Trainer level & titles
You level up too, not only your Pokémon. Every new level gives a point to spend on a talent. There is no top level.
You find your level, its XP bar and your talents in the TRAINER tab.
How to earn XP
XP comes only from things you do yourself, never from a game left running. Clears by a dungeon guide give none.

The first win over each gym or League battle and the first clear of each dungeon give XP too, and later regions are worth more:

Talents
- Every level gives 1 point, and every rank of a talent costs 1 point.
- Each branch ends in a talent without a limit. It opens once the branch's other talents are full. Filling all the limited talents takes 72 points.
- Talents don't count in team battles.

Taking points back
You can take back all your points and spend them again. The first time is free. After that it costs 500, 1,000, 2,000, 4,000, 8,000, 16,000 and then 20,000 Quest Pearls each time.
Titles
A title is a line on your Trainer Card. It gives no bonus, you can't buy one, and you pick which one to show by tapping it on the card. The Fan Club hands out the first one, so no other title counts until you have finished Best Friends.
